École Hillgrove School was established in the 2022-2023 school year by combining the former Robert Rundle Elementary and Sir George Simpson Junior High schools into one joint campus. The name Hillgrove was selected as it represents the bringing together of two different elements prevalent in the area surrounding the schools: Sir George Simpson at the top of the hill, and Robert Rundle closer to the grove of Grosvenor Park, and thus the new name promotes the concept of unity between the two schools. Hillgrove also ties into the city's botanical theme, and emphasizes key elements of the Grandin area.
